Final word for this class!

I will honestly say that I had doubts about how I would like this class, but after taking it I will say that I think it should be a required class for all underclassman. I learned a lot and the people in our class was outstanding. We all connected well and had really good conversations in class.

I will probably look through all the books that we purchased for this class and come up with some great ideas for designing something in the future. I'm still reading the MTIV book and I'm loving it. Hillman Curtis is great.

Beth I must say you did and outstanding job and I look forward to seeing you this fall around the halls, and to the rest of the class, it was great and I had a ball. I hope to see all of you this fall.

Thank you all,
Todd

Making a Difference

Well I have giving this a lot of thought and it is hard to come up with ideas that might have an impact on society as a whole but I think I may have a few, of course there are going to have to be rules to some of these.

1. Take some of the government land that is in each state and plant vegetable fields for people of that state to come and hand pick vegetables for their family. I believe this would take some of the economic pressure off of families for food.

2. Take some of the Military installations barracks and turn them into shelters for the homeless. The entire infrastructure is in place to house people and feed them.

3. This one is a big one. Build a facility that would incinerate garbage and waste. This facility would be powered by the methane gas that is produced from the trash and it would also be the main power behind the furnace that would incinerate the trash.

4. Declare one day a month that would be a no driving day. This would slow down emission problems and may save on gas.

5. Create a fund that would let less fortunate children be able to take trips to other countries for a week or so to experience what is out there and know they can do anything if they set their mind to it.

6. Recycle toilet paper!! Just Kidding

Here is a question to think about. How does a blind person know when they are done wiping? Just a thought.

Picture Quest!

For my Safari I went to a park that I going running in at least three times a week. It is called ShadySide Park.

Here is another piece of art that I never understood. If I bent some metal would you buy it, or better yet if I made a girl with a Lite Bright game would you buy it?

I just thought this was amusing since we were talking about the
English language. Does this sign mean the handicap and have a 14" Bass guitar?

Ok look at this hole really close and it looks like two antennas from a bug coming out of a hole. The first time I looked at it I didn't see it but don't get your hand to close.

This was a piece of plastic off of a piece of candy but after I looked at it on the camera it could almost pass as a glowing Angel.

And the main reason I come here is because of the nice lake and river running beside it. I run around here all the time but I never stop to look at things. I'm usually in a hurry to try to get my run in and then off the shower and work.

This time I actually got to look around a bit and see some of the sights.

Buttons!

I was reading the MTIV book, which personally I think stands for Motivation, and as I was all the way past 120 a page at the beginning kept coming back to me. It was on page 11 and he told a story about when he was little looking at the posters of WWII.

This brought back a lot of memories for me and my childhood when I was at my grandma's house looking at all the campaign buttons she had. There were a lot of them and I always thought the designs were neat and they always used the Red, White, and Blue colors.

To me this represents a time when people really cared about the country and banded together a little more. Protests were not an uncommon thing and people believed in keeping America strong.

Better stop I could go off on a Rant.

The 80's are Back!

So I was thinking of what to do with the paper we had and when I was going through the pictures for the last project it brought up an idea so here it is. I think these pictures speak a thousand words.

Man I miss the mullet!

A Day in the Life

I had just got done mowing and came home to quickly take a shower and get ready for to come to class when I figured I would look at my email. Wow, good thing I did because we didn't have class and that just threw me for a loop. I felt kind of lost for a second or that I was doing something wrong. I'm so used to coming to Indy for the night that it was a little strange.

It was three o'clock when I received the email and so I left my dirty clothes on and went outside to catch up on my mower maintenance before I had to go to class(which was doing something fun and not coming to Indy.) So when I finished at 5:30pm I got in the shower and proceeded to do something that I never do anymore and that is just relax and spend time with my dog like the good old days when I had a 7 to 3:30 job and had nothing else to do but play in fields for hours. I'm sure she misses that too.

I don't own my three acres anymore and I have moved from that old location but I do have a woods and White River right across the street so that is where I decided to go. My dog is a yellow Lab and she just loves the water so I grabbed the play toy and headed down to the river to let her swim and I was just going to relax and stare at the water a while and enjoy the sounds of nature.

I'm usually so busy, Mon., Weds., and Friday I mow all day and then come to class and on Tuesday and Thursday I'm at IUPUI all day working and going to class and the weekends are usually catching up on things around the home or homework so taking a little detour from my busy schedule was great.

So anyway back at the river I just threw the toy in the river for my dog and when she got tired of that she looked around and I just sat there and looked at different things and wonder about the design insects make in the dirt and the water. I watched one of those bugs that skim on the water for a little while and found it just fascinating the designs the ripples made as he or she was moving along.

Then I looked at some tracks made by raccoons and the shape of their little feet in the dirt and the way they moved on the banks, of course the whole time my dog is wandering through the woods like a wild women stirring up everything she could and enjoying every minute of it.

It started getting dark out and I walked back home and gave the dog a bath and sat down for a nice night of reading. I had bought a new novel a few weeks ago and haven't had time to open it yet, it was nice to finally start reading again. It is a story of wizards and vampires so it definitely makes your mind wonder a bit and imagine anything you want to about the characters and the environment they live in.

I really enjoyed having the time off to do some of the things I haven't done in a while and I think I will do that more often.

Thanks for the night!
